I'm also working on installing z/OS 1.7. When I went to 1.4, the opinion
of this group seemed to be to avoid zFS as it seemed to have stability
issues. I read recently that is offers some performance improvements and
I was thinking of giving it a try... Until this thread.

So...
Barbara seems to think it's not worth the effort.
A few others seem to be non-committal.

Barbara,
Are you using UNIX System Services heavily ?? What for ?? How large are
your file systems ??? And when you talk about reorganizing the file systems,
how exactly do you do that ??? I use DSS to copy file systems after
maintenance, but I don't do anything special to the individual files within
the file systems.
