The z/OS 1.4 z990 Exploitation Support feature was NEVER a web download, it was always an orderable feature for those already licensed for z/OS. Nor was its predecessor, z/OS 1.4 z990 Compatibility Support feature. Because z/OS 1.4 was still orderable when the z990 was first announced, the support becomes an orderable feature. Documented in the z990 announcement letter.
The web download providing compatibility support for the z990 at that time was for OS/390 2.10, z/OS 1.2 and z/OS 1.3 - still supported but not orderable. Therefore it became a web download. This web download was withdrawn 3 months prior to EOS for z/OS 1.3. [This is true for all web downloads, they will be removed from the web site 3 months prior to EOS for the last supported release it supports.] This same web deliverable was put back on the z/OS download page in December 2005 and retitled: z990 Compatibility Support for Selected out of support Releases. Just because it is available for web download does not imply support. This web dowload does not have support nor do the software support releases it is applicable to. Although z990 is in the name of the deliverable it is applicable to the z890 and z9. All this is also documented in Washington Systems Center Flash 10236 and 10477.
