So all TN3270 sessions > to our z/OS system appear to come from a single IP address. > Some TELNET and RLOGIN clients and servers pass the X11 DISPLAY variable to the host session. If TN3270 (a variant of TELNET) subscribes to this protocol, the host could parse DISPLAY at the colon to get the hostname of the client. Why IP address, rather than hostname? IP addresses are dynamic; host names more stable, suitable for storing in a profile. Hmmm. If x3270 passes the DISPLAY variable, will z/OS and TSO further pass it on to a started OMVS session? -- gil -- StorageTek INFORMATION made POWERFUL ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
