Again, with SVA (RVA, V2X, Iceberg), an "erased" track isn't really
overwritten. The old data are still out there on the subsystem
somewhere, sitting in a queue awaiting reclamation. Security erase only
makes the data inaccessible via the OS, but not from an inquisitive
engineer with low level knowledge and low level tools -- same threat
faced in the PC world.
True, but don't forget that the SVA et al compresses the data, and I
don't think that STK/Sun discloses the compression format. Adds another
level of difficulty.
