IIRC, when we have a disk replaced, we have a contract with the vendor
that they will perform an "industry standard" erase procedure on itq
before doing anything else.
You might ask them to define "industry standard". While developing
FDRERASE we found that there were many standards, mostly from government
agencies in various countries.
