The last time I did this (a while ago), DFDSS had a problem
copying/moving HFS files. I had to DUMP and then RESTORE.

Regardless, you will have to make sure no one is using the hfs and
unmount it before DFDSS starts (and remount it when done).

It is no longer necessary for HFS datasets to be managed by SMS (at
least as far back as 2.10). I have both managed and unmanaged datasets
and have not had any problems with either.

I don't know if DB2 imposes any additional restrictions.

Subject: HFS file question related to SMS management

I have some DB2-product ("DBS") HFS files that were built on an
SMS-managed volume last year when we were still under OS/390-2.10. The
DBA who installed the product and built the files is no longer here.

We are currently on z/OS-1.6 and our system OMVS HFS files are not SMS
managed.

Could I use DFDSS to move the DBS files (that are currently SMS-managed)
to a non-SMS volume (removing them from SMS management) with no harm to
the file access?
