It's not enough to buy just the OS, unless all your programming is
with included software (Rexx).    But even there, a lot of my
mainframe programming depends on libraries being set up in a
particular way.

I could probably buy time sharing cheaper and easier than I could get
all the tools I want.

Heck, for most people, buying a CoBOL compiler for their PC or Mac is
too expensive.  (I don't think there is one for Macs).   Or PL/I...

Instead of getting Z/OS for the PC, it might be more effective to get
DB/2 or even CICS for the PC.
