Chris, I think that's exactly what it means. I know from (painfull) experience it really means it for HOME. (Well, it amost really means it.) You can add and delete individual Dev/Link definitions, but you have to change other defs like HOME, GATEWAY, etc. to use new devs & links. If you need to change any of those you need include your whole list because you will be replacing the whole list. BTW, I've been misquoting you for 12 years. I've been saysing "There is no substitute for KNOWING what you are doing". Sheesh. All these years I've been aiming at knowledge rather than comprehension.
