A security firm, here in Canada, once stated the time between when you plug your new PC into the INTERNET and some malicious thing is attempted against it is less than 5 minutes. When I got a new one, last March, I didn't plug it in until I had Security Centre up and configured the way I wanted it. Every time I'm on, it reports that somebody is trying to get in. So far, no successes (as far as I'm aware of). But, there are some false positives. A burden, yes. But, better than somebody actually getting in. Of course, I don't understand the mind-set of these malicious people, and most spammers. What purpose, other than being a nuisance, does most spam serve? . Questions? Concerns?
