Does this work with PDS? Only PDSE? Only HFS?

I did not mention it but one surprising result of my experimentation was
finding that a STOW of a member name that began with a digit completed
without error, but afterwards the member simply did not exist. Yes, probably
reportable as a defect, but I was trying to learn what would work in the way
of preserving PC names, not trying to solve a specific production ABEND type
thing.

This was in the early to mid-nineties timeframe, late days of MVS or early
days of OS/390.
