Thanks for posting the link to the article Gary, it was good reading.
I am concerned that for small businesses the numbers do not add up with either
a low end z9 or the Service Option.
The article states correctly that the IBM Software is provided largely free to
PWD member. (Even the annual premium does not break the bank at $1800.)
To purchase a t-Server and FLEX-ES combination and consider renewal every three
years puts the cost at around £3000 per annum, whereas the Service Offering at
$2000 per month is considerable more and makes the difference between a viable
option and not.
Purchasing a z9 plus associated DASD is a non-starter at our level of turn-over.
Personally given the hiatus with PSI, I see Fundamentals Systems as being
collateral damage due to "emulation" seemingly being at the heart of things,
but that is only my opinion which could be way of the mark of course.
