In JES2, the DSIDs remain the same regardless of input data. In
HASP, the sequence was determined by program and data, and could
vary from run to run. Examples would include an assembly that
does or does not produce a punch file; an SMF processing program
that produces printed reports on multiple output files, ad
nauseam.....

No. But it was possible (not supported other than Msg, Log,
etc.) to retain a file over multiple steps.
