Danial, If you don't defrag or otherwise create free space on ML1, you will experience B-37s during Primary Space Management. Having that happen could then effect available space on your Primary volumes making your users unhappy. Reason enough? My own preference is to issue a Freevol command against the ML1 with the most free space exts. This way I get a completely empty volume for space management to play with.

I think the storage admin is checking that now. In a former shop we didn't compress ML1 volumes, and why it's done here is lost in history as folks have left, hence the question of why do it at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
