Here's what Mark Fyffe said today in reply to notes I've
sent him (and others) regarding IBMLink 2000 outages:

From: Mark Fyffe <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hi Steve,

There is a great deal of focus on the problems. There have been some
short term steps taken with each problem that has arisen and there is
a long term plan which is in the process of being approved. In the
meantime we will continue to provide access to the 3270 interface
until the stability of IBMLink is acceptable.

I understand the frustration and can assure you this has the highest
level of attention.

and I won't say the other comment, I promise.

This habitual non-availability of the intended sole customer interface
to IBMLink has gone so far past ridiculous that an adequate adjective to
describe it does not yet exist in the English language. I received an
automatic notification of an update to an open PMR yesterday, and so far
have not been able even to sign in to IBMLink on the web (our
3270-interface accounts expired "many moons ago") to read the update.
The nature of the PMR does not yet warrant a phone call to IBM.

Perhaps the time is coming for influential customers to start demanding
rebates of a portion of their subscription fees for IBMLink. Its
consistent non-availability via the intended interface should not be
tolerated.
