That is why Ed put the word common in quotes. After creating a GETSHARED memory object, every address space that needs access to the object must get the address of the object, and issue IARV64 with the SHAREMEMOBJ option. And by the way, the caller must be sup state or in system key. So no, shared memory objects aren't the "equivalent" of CSA, since there isn't at IPL time, a block of above the bar, that is always available to every address space.
