Part of me quite likes the way that it is done now as it helps prevent "someone 
else" overlaying your common area as only address spaces that have registered 
interest can access the ShrMO.

Obviously I can see the benefits of true CSA64 - but I would like the option to 
making it READONLY to all by default.

The difficulty of connecting all existing and future address spaces to a 64-bit 
shared memory object is one reason why many ISVs (and IBM
developers) have been lobbying the z/OS developers for true CSA64 support in 
z/OS. Other reasons include lack of page fix/free and DREF support with 
existing 64-bit shared memory objects.
