Think about it. I know IBM understands the value of z/VM for their training
classes are most always hosted as z/OS guests of z/VM.

Agreed. I have taken many classes from IBM (for MVS) where MVS was under VM . I the last ten years there was never an issue about response times and length of time to IPL.

Going back 30 years now that is a different story. Let us say that to IPL took 2+ hours and everyone in the class was really pe'od at IBM for such lousy times. It destroyed the class.

One time I was taking a 2 week course in Dallas and each team was given a virtual machine (10 groups if I remember correctly) and it was the best thing since sliced cheese. Go that way in a learning environment.
