Edward,
It may be better asked off list, but I have been wondering the same
thing for a long time as well. Frankly, I'm glad the question was
asked.
Can anyone offer a definitive answer? Or just speculation?

When I first saw the person posting I thought it was difficult to
follow. I made a effort in following the posting to go through the
URL's to better understand the person a little better. What I found
was a rich background of information and in the process learned a lot
about "pre-history" of MVS that I had no idea existed. The person
actually wrote the code (albeit on the 360 and maybe on the early MVS
as well) the references are just packed full of information and how/
why things occurred and a little but of what you see today. I do not
follow every URL posted (depending on topic) but a large percentage
of them.
After a while you get used to the way that the person posts and its
up to you (if you are interested) to learn what/why things have been
developed.
I want to thank the person for posting and helping me better
understand the history of MVS and see why it got to be the best IBM
OS that ever existed(IMO). You are always free to make up your own
mind of course but the resource is excellent (IMO) and we should be
happy that the person is contributing (a lot) to IBM-MAIN.
