I think you missed the point - no dynamic allocation, as that
would just get you back where you started. All you need is
another DD, with DISP=OLD, and no catalog access (i.e., explicit
unit and volume) to modify the JFCB for. OPEN won't know or care
that it's a multi-volume DS, and just build the DEB for the
volume/unit you put into the JFCB.
But to create the second DD would require an SVC99 call. This would have
to be done transparantly -- we can't require the user to provide two
DDnames for each dataset they want to access in this way. I'm not
talking about dynamic allocation in the sense of actually allocating a
dataset, but of dynamically allocating a DDname using SVC99.
