If it requires a temporary file (might this be because it
sometimes does an IEBCOPY unload?) there's no possibility
of relief with a PIPE.

And AMATERSE is pigheaded about UNIX files as its archives;
I believe it's not that it can't deal with them; it just
doesn't want to. I can UNPACK from a UNIX file (I believe
even a pipe) if I concatenate an empty CKD file in front
of it to fool it about the attributes. There's no way
to perform a similar experiment for packing to a UNIX file.

Opportunity for Requirement?
