Hi Barry,

Yes, I meant IOCDS. Yes, SYS1.IPLPARM(LOAD00) was changed to:
IODF 00 SYS1 09

And yes, someone changed the activation profile to point to the correct
LOAD00 member...

Thanks,

A POR cannot load an IODF. Did you mean IOCDS?

If you changed to a new IOCDS, did someone make sure that there was a
LOADxx member in SYS1.IPLPARM that pointed to the corresponding IODF
(the one used to build the IOCDS)?

Did someone change the load parameter in the activation profile so that
the correct LOADxx member of SYS1.IPLPARM was the one actually used
during the IPL.

Subject: HCD v1.4

I thought that I had this figured out, but I don't...On Sunday morning
Operations had done a POR (Power On Reset) to load a new configuration
(SYS1.IODF00). The new configuration deleted old (no longer existing)
devices and switched the 3174 console controllers to ESCON direct
(without a converter). In the clean up as I was deleting old disks, I
missed the fact that the esoteric called VIO was deleted because the
disk associated with it were gone. To try and fix the problem I added
VIO, but for some reason, I can't dynamically activate the new
configuration. When I display the active configuration it says to both
Hardware / Software changes allowed: the word No. Does anyone know how I
can get around this problem?
