I don't think so ( GDPS and sysplex) . Banks have strict regulations about their installation and their security . But they are mainly under recommendations and not obligations as for their down time . AFAIK some people on this list work for banks that do not have parallel sysplex , but i guess they cannot talk about it as the decision had to most likely been taken according to financial reasons , and against their professional recommendations . And i know plenty that are not parallel sysplex in Europe , and they are not small banks . As for the likeliness of some web interface being down or maintained , i agree. The chances that this is the reason are high .
