At SHARE (108) in Tampa, Wayne Driscoll and I presented session 2863 "A z/OS Sysprog's Guide to Running z/OS Under z/VM". There's a lot of "quick-start" information there like, what's in the directory, how to attach/link volumes, various CP and CMS commands, how to that XEDIT "thingy" if you're used to ISPF, etc. And some more in-depth stuff too, like how to use PER TRACE to debug something.
Once you find the Proceedings, you will see two PDFs to download. One is mine (the more introductory topics); one is Wayne's (the more advanced topics.)
