I sure don't. I have had two phone calls from you wonderful folks! The first got me into CMS. I had to:
------------------------------- *pa1* to get out of whatever it was doing #cp system clear begin link maint 190 190 rr s link maint 193 193 rr y link maint 19e 19e rr y/s ipl cms ------------------------------- And that got me into CMS. Right now, I am working on figuring out how to change the MAINT password subversively with another mostly privileged account. If you'd like to watch or help, for a while I'll try to have a live meeting up at: http://mapinfo.epopcentral.com/?join=M47 David Logan Manager of Product Development, Pitney Bowes Business Insight http://centrus.com W: (720) 564-3056 C: (303) 818-8222 -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mark Post Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2008 10:43 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Anyone know much about z/VM? >>> On 12/13/2008 at 11:31 AM, David Logan <[email protected]> wrote: -snip- > I am pretty sure it's a disk setup thing, but I'm not having much luck > finding what I need in the manuals. Do you have access to the MAINT account, or the privileges to look at the CP directory for the guest? That will be important in figuring out what you're seeing. > I am getting this: > > IPL CMS > DMSIND2015W Unable to access system disk. In your position, I would ask the z/VM systems programmer for a "CMS user" userid. Also, if you're going to try to learn more about z/VM, in addition to Ed Jaffe's pointer to the SHARE presentation, I would recommend subscribing to the IBM-VM mailing list. Lots of very experienced VMers there, and an increasing number of people new to z/VM are coming in and asking questions. You would fit right in.
