What is a limit of devices on NIP console list in IODF (OS Config) ?
Don't know. Probably more than you need to define - even if you
did what you describe below. Maybe 99?
Background:
A CPC with several LPARs defined. There are several OSA-ICC consoles
defined for each LPAR. However NIP console is assigned to OS Config
definition. There are many of them for different disk volume sets
(cloned volsers). The goal is to make possible to IPL given OS config on
any LPAR. WIth NIP consoles of course.
The only solution I can imagine is to define all the console devices for
all the LPARs on NIP console list. Which seems to me "overkill". Is
there simpler or more elegant method?
Can't you use the same addresses for each OS config? Or is that some sort
of OSA-ICC restriction. All our LPARs use the same addresses, but we are
using 2074s.
I vaguely remember, that addresses need to be unique (cannot be reused).
However I have to check it again. It would be good idea.
From the other hand - what about MCS consoles? Two concurrently running
systems (LPARs) cannot use same device as console. Assuming monoplexes.
