Here's a z/Journal article I wrote about educational resources for new/younger
mainframers: http://www.zjournal.com/index.cfm?section=article&aid=823
I wrote two more recent articles, one for z/Journal and one for Mainframe
Executive but don't think they're yet online.
Basically, IBM and a LOT of universities are doing education -- including
online courses from Marist.
Ah -- here's an article -- not mine:

And see http://www.marist.edu/ce/elearning/courses.html and http://www.marist.edu/ce/elearning/faq.html

Subject: Anyone know of self-help type 'stuff' for learning z/OS
I have a son in his mid 20's that has expressed an interest in
learning mainframe technology. I can get him access to a z/OS system,
but haven't got a clue as to how to start the process. This is someone
who has a fairly good background in PC's, web design, networking, etc.,
etc. The path I took into mainframes some 35 years ago isn't available
today. As far as we know, there isn't any education available at any of
the colleges or universities locally.
Anyone know of anything available to start someone off?
