Ed Jaffe got in first.  Still, Allen Fields's typo needs correction for
the record.  For old-style blocking the maximal BLKSIZE= value was
32760---not 32670.  The rationale for it was that the integer quotient
of 

 

[2^15 - 1 =] 32767/8 is 4095, and 4095 x 8 is 32760,

 

which is the largest integer not greater than 32767 that is a multiple
of eight (for doubleword alignment).
