Yes, that is what we were looking for, unfortunately,
I doubt if anyone here will be willing to pay for it.
So let me see if I have this right. Here is a product
that meets a need. But it is not free (Gilbert assures
us it is not expensive, though).
How long is a piece of string? Is that longer or shorter than a rope?
So instead of paying a small amount to reward the
developer for the time in designing, coding, testing
the software your management will choose a) not to
solve the problem they say needs to be solved or b)
assign the task to an employee, who will probably
take days, maybe weeks or longer, to solve the problem,
costing more money and taking that person away from
other tasks that are likely more immediate to your
organization?
Too often, management does not compare "direct costs"
(i.e., "I gotta write a check") with "indirect costs"
(i.e., "I'm already paying that salary anyway"). In
those cases, any "direct" cost greater than zero is
"too much". I'm sure you're only too familiar with
that school of thought in your business.
Oh yeah.
