I know for absolutely certain that you can use SMS management for temporary datasets. It is the very first thing that we did when we implemented SMS. I __think__ that such datasets are NOT catalogued. Basically because they would end up in our password protected / RACF protected master catalog. But I cannot find any documentation which says anything about that.
