We use IBM TS7720s, which is an all disk-based tape library. Set-up in an SMS environment was pretty straight forward and it performs great.
You set up your tape (scratch) processing as if you had real tapes. The only issue you need to address is for disaster recovery. We have our own recovery site, so I copy to a second TS7720. I have no requirement for offsite physical tape storage.
