Darth -

I'm curious as to whether or not there is realtime communication that occurs
between OAM and whatever mechanism replaces the ATL Library Manager in this
type of scenario. It seems questionable given that the EMC DLm solution
requires batch jobs to support the release and synchronization of scratch
tapes, even though the XLCS API supports functions against MTLs. One would
assume this could all be handled internally. How much effort goes into your
daily scratch release/synch processing and what TMS do you use in your
environment ?

Frank.

Frank -

We're running an HDS MDL (which uses the Bustech hardware to front-end HDS
storage). We have 1 library running as an MTL connected to an SMS-plex.

What kind of information are you looking for? Specific questions?

Thanks to those who supplied answers to this post. Perhaps I should have been
more specific as to the type of information I am looking for. We have a
functioning SMStape environment running 3 IBM ATLSs which have been around for
some time so the concepts are not new. We are investigating the possibility of
implementing an EMC DLm into the current environment as an MTL as an addition
to the current SMStape configuration. The basics behind the functionality are
understood but I was looking for some real world experience with EMC DLm or
similar equipment running as an MTL.

Thanks,
 Frank
