Wow.... I took some programming classes when I was there in late 70's early 80's.

What was it replaced with? 656,445,689,854,332 AIX servers?

The University of Tennessee deactivated all LPARs on its IBM mainframe today

expire at midnight tonight. It's been a long, slow migration which ended
today. We ran both z/VM and z/OS in production until the end.

Starting with an IBM 360/40 as a frontend to an IBM 7040 in 1967 and then an
IBM 360/65 in 1970, the university has been an IBM mainframe user for over four
decades. IBM has been on campus since about 1960, but everything pre-System
360 preceded me and isn't really of the same mainframe era. We started with
DOS, then OS/360, then adding VM when the 370/148 came in the door. The
generations here have been the IBM 360/40, 360/65, 370/148, 4341, 4381, 2
3031's, 3081, 3090 (with VF's), 9672 and finally the z/800. The z/800 served
us well since 2002.
