A few years ago I asked a question similar to this, about having a site where people collected information in a structured way, expanding on, for example, answers to problems on this and other lists.
It didn't go over well. One guy in particular, who will be dead soon, said his information isn't for free. (But he didn't mind dribbling it out in little bits to lists like this.) Oh well. Still, I'd definitely support any such effort.
