For those with at least one foot in the Apple ecosystem, if you have an i-device (ipad/iphone), drag and drop the ePub on iTunes, then sync your device with iTunes. The books will open in the iBooks app (a free download).
If you don't have an i-device, Bookle (http://www.stairways.com/main/bookle) is an excellent ePub reader for Mac OS.
