I'm sure he knows that. And that there are two kinds of SSA arrays that can be in the box - one of 18 GB drives that are connected via STI to the G5 CPU board, and another of 9GB drives used by OS/2. But there's a limit of one SSA array of three 9GB drives for OS/2,so whether additional IDE drives can be attached to enlarge the space available to OS/2 (some of which might be used for emulated S/390 DASD) is a very reasonable question. Certainly the motherboard has the IDE connectors, and presumably OS/2 has the drivers, so there'd be little harm in trying. I was tempted many years ago, but at that point the machine was in semi-production, so not a good idea.
