Having multiple sessions going on in a single terminal window, as split terminals/panes is all the rage these days.
I suppose it can be thought of as an alternate to using TPX/Tubes and jumping b/w sessions in the same window. Instead, one can have a session on the left and another session on the right, 'in a single window'.
