For catalogs that shared outside the sysplex see z/OS V1R13.0 MVS Planning: Global Resource Serialization 1.2.9.16.1 Catalogs. In the same manual "In star mode, IBM recommends the conversion of all RESERVEs to global ENQs with a single pattern entry, when possible. " We follow this best practice. We have our JES2 Checkpoint on a cf , therefor JES2 doesn't issue any reserves. We exclude the catalogs we share outside the sysplex. We have syplexes that use RACF and other sysplexes that use ACF2. On the ACF2 systems we also exclude the ACF2 databases. Other than those 2 we convert all other reserves.
