I remember the offer. We decided not to avail ourselves. Did not wish to 
"invest" in an unsupported product.

Well IBM did let it out of the lab for a short while - in the very
late 1990s ISVs could obtain the then PLX/390 for a trivial fee. I had
the order form, submitted it, and there was some sort of minor delay
that dragged on for months before they finally admitted that they had
cancelled the program. But to this day there are a few ISVs who still
have that 1999 version.
