I dare to disagree, twice.
1. CPs can be kneecapped, but "likely" seems to be unfounded.
2. IMHO running Linux on CP is expensive because CP (hardware) is
expensive and *maybe* some ISV costs depend on MIPS base. However we
have scenario where the CP is already bought, no CP purchase, no
MIPS-related upgrades apply. MLC software bills from IBM will not be
affected (assumed WLC), because none of z/OS LPARs will increase CPU usage.
