At the point all I can say its a 3390 

the DCBFDAD is being updated the NOTE macro keeps on returning 1
I added blksize to the DCBE and CAPACITYMODE=XCAP


Would you suggest I use devtyp and tracalc to get information to re-position 
the file using DCBFDAD
