Mark,

From a defined lpar you can use as you want, you will be able to restore via 
ftp on 3 10017 cyls free dasd (d9ecat, d9esy1, d9esy2) from hmc. 
Then you can create a new zvm directory (mvsdvr for example).
Your dasd have to be added in it at addresses 120-122 (from memory) and osa 
addresses too.

You will be able to ipl the cod z/os.
Follow the coguide.pdf sent with the cod. It is well explained .
