The editor(s) has support for sequence numbers (in the last columns but also in the first columns): https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/explorer-for-zos/3.4.0?topic=preferences-enabling-sequence-number-handling This is the Explorer for z/OS documentation but it applies to IDz as well.
The link only mentions the JCL editor setup. I can't find the more general page. I know it is generally supported (I have used it with the COBOL editor all the time). Search for sequence numbers in the IDz settings and you should find it.
