Right. A perhaps-better statement is that there might be no way to
compile on z/OS V1.13 and get code that will run on a 9672 using a prior
release of z/OS that supports 9672s. (I'll defer to Tom on that.)
z/OS V1.13 requires a minimum processor level, as shown in z/OS Planning
for Installation, in topic 4.3.1, "Identifying server requirements":
The only IBM servers on which z/OS V1R13 runs are the IBM System z
servers, which are:

IBM zEnterprise 196 (z196)
IBM zEnterprise 114 (z114)
