Almost missed Lionel's new title and address. Anyway isn't it dependent on the application to ferret this out? Contrast ISPMLIB with ISPPROF as to how short blocks are handled. Fixed a couple of nasties with 'high level' users editing their PROF dsn with NULLS on STD. There was an emulator that came with a poor user interface and when transferring FB it always assumed F so we'd these horrid 80/80 whoppers finally tracked it down to one dept that had it set for their server. this was done this would be a non-issue since if a full sized block would not fit on the track 2 shorter blocks would be written. The check for remaining room is I assume done for the first block of a member since the number of BLKSIZE records that fit on a track is not necessarily the same as for the track with the first block of a member due to the prior member's EOM record taking up space. >------------------------------------------------------ >Lionel B.
