Hello all, Would any of you have an entry level systems programmer(or whatever

I'm trying not to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks

There are (at least) two sides to the hiring experience: what the employer expects from the prospective employee, and what the employer can offer the employee in terms of a work experience.

Mike's question and the answers to it deal with the requirements that the applicant should meet in order to be a useful systems programmer.

The other side of the equation is whether the job is attractive to potential applicants. There has been considerable discussion about whether the user interfaces of the tools used by z/OS systems programmers are a turn-off for younger people. IBM has shown that they think so by plowing significant resources into putting a more "mainstream" face on these tools with z/OSMF. Of course, for those of us who have been using the existing tools for eons, they are as comfortable as an old pair of shoes.

All this makes me curious: now that IBM has reduced the installation effort and resource consumption of z/OSMF as of z/OS 2.1, has anyone here implemented z/OSMF and seen a positive effect on interest levels in systems programming jobs from younger individuals? Or, has anyone here implemented z/OSMF and carried on using it themselves because they prefer it to the existing tools?
