D U,DASD,OffLINE,/0000,9999 will give you a list of all offline devices defined in HCD as DASD, starting at address 0000 for count of 9999. Then do vary onlines until you find the volume.
Also, if you have access to your DS8000 storage manager GUI (or the CLI), it will show vol sers regardless of OS state.
