Sorry to return to this again, but our customer has asked for some clarification, especially now that z/OS 2.1 has now been out for some time. I've been asked to check the following...
- Is anybody successfully running PL/1 for MVS 1.1.1 on z/OS 2.1? - They are under the impression that migrating to Enterprise PL/1 needs a mass recompile, but my understanding is that it can be a gradual process, whereby if a program needs changing it can be recompiled using the new compiler. It would be nice if I could go back and convince them that is correct. They seem to accept that conversion to Enterprise PL/1 is inevitable, but want to be clear how big a task it would be for them and what the implications are of not doing it. I know what I would do but it's not my dog ... (well it is, at the end of the day...) Thanks for any advice Regards and thanks Paul _____________________________________________ From: Beesley, Paul Sent: Wednesday, October 23, 2013 2:06 PM To: 'IBM Mainframe Discussion List' Subject: PL/1 and z/OS 2.1 Hi I am aware that PL/1 for MVS 1.1.1 is unsupported (and probably has been for some time) but is anybody using it on z/OS 2.1, or CICS 5.1 for that matter? We have a customer who is reluctant to upgrade to Enterprise PL/1 or whatever the most recent flavour is called.
