Typical legalese for "If you try to replace any part of your production z
hardware and software with this PC-based, capacity-limited software-only
offering we will sue your behind off!"

Possibly also aimed at countries who don't (or whose "rogue" citizens or
military organizations don't) really respect IP. I can think of a few of those
around the globe, as I am sure you can.

I wonder if the zPDT dongle limitations have been hacked yet. Last I remember
reading about the dongle, it limited the effective simulated z processor speed
as well as the number of simulated cores to keep really fast x86 systems from
challenging real z hardware speed and capacity.

Where I read:

Note: Rational Development and Test Environment for System z can only be
used for
development, test, employee education, or demonstration of applications
that run on
z/OS. It may not be used for production workloads of any kind, nor for
robust
development workloads including without limitation production module builds,
pre-production testing, stress testing, or performance testing.

"... development, test [but not] robust development ... or performance testing"?

I see some blurred lines here. I wonder how the lawyers clarify them?
