This doesn't surprise me. I thank you for finding it, as I was going to
look for something like that in the announcement.

This is very much the same as prior offerings, going back as far as the
zPad and even back to the PC Server 500. I had both of these and similar
restrictions applied. In addition, you had to jump through some hoops
annually to renew your license by proving that you were developing a
product that would run on the same zSeries system. Did you also find
anything along these lines needed for the annual renewal of this offering?

Mike,

A number of folks here have completely missed the point. RD&T is a completely new and completely unique offering. The zPad and PC Server 500 offerings were only available to COMMERCIAL DEVELOPERS who aligned themselves specifically to develop software to run on the zSeries platform. RD&T is available to ANYONE WHO WILL PAY FOR IT. NO BUSINESS PLAN, NO ALIGNMENT WITH IBM, NO PROMISE TO DEVELOP COMMERCIAL SOFTWARE is required. You can now play with z/OS to your heart's content on your own system. You don't need to prove anything to renew, you just do it.

Tom Conley
