Should I install the CDC in separate CSI or just start using existing FMID
libraries
This response is from Sandra Lackenburger, who supports IDAA for us:

"My response would be, if it were me, I would do 2 separate installs the way we
have done. Yes, the FMID for InfoSphere Data Replication (aka CDC) is part of an
IDAA install, but I would keep them separate for the following reasons:

For IDAA, you really want to use the CDC that ships with IDAA since the IDAA
team has integrated into their product. The support for IDAA can be difficult
enough to deal with and I don’t think you want to complicate it any further by
redoing their packaging. Also, part of the Access Server and Management
Console pieces that traditionally get downloaded and installed with IIDR (CDC)
are integrated into the IDAA install. There are pieces to the HAQTxxx FMID
that makes up the IDAA piece of the install for the Access Server and
Management Console and I would want to make sure I kept all of those pieces in
sync, especially if I were planning to use the Incremental Update feature of
IDAA.

Likewise, if they’re also using IIDR (aka CDC) in addition to IDAA, I would
want to keep that install in sync with the Access Server and Management Console
that one would manually download and install for it. I don’t remember there
being any additional FMIDs that I installed for IIDR (aka CDC) that also
provided any pieces of the Access Server and Management Console like there was
for IDAA, so what is downloaded and installed on a distributed platform is
going to provide both of these pieces for an IIDR (aka CDC) install.

I would also keep IIDR (aka CDC) separate from DB2 itself since the 2 really
don’t have to be installed/upgraded together. If they absolutely thought they
just had to put it in the same CSI as their DB2 software, I would put it in its
own set of DZONE and TZONE definitions within the CSI, but then you’re still
potentially limiting yourself if one comes out with a new version and you want
to install it at that time in a different CSI.

The one last thing on all of this is, regardless of which product you’re
installing, the CDC FMID (HCHCA21) really doesn’t take much DASD, even if there
are 2 copies of it.

Hope this helps".

I would also add that the maintenance for IDAA is huge. The last batch of
maintenance we downloaded was 2.6 Gb.

Bob (and Sandra)
Thank you for comprehensive explanation.
Do I understand it well: I should keep IDAA in separate CSI from DB2?
